Miami · Miami-Dade · Part 91 dry lease
Aircraft leasing for Miami — a Citation CJ1, with the distance stated plainly.
Palm Aero Group dry-leases one well-kept Citation CJ1 for Miami people and businesses. It’s hangared at Palm Beach County Park Airport (LNA) in Lantana — not in Miami — and available now. You supply your own pilot, hold operational control under Part 91, and pay direct costs instead of an operator’s retail rate.
Miami
The straight answer first: the jet lives in Palm Beach County
LNA is roughly 42 nautical miles from Opa-locka Executive (OPF) and roughly 60 from Miami Executive (TMB). Miami is the far end of the corridor from our hangar, so the distance deserves more than a footnote.
- Have your pilot position the jet. Your pilot can position the aircraft to OPF, TMB or any Florida airport — at your cost, under your lease. Price that leg in the estimator so it’s in your numbers, not a surprise.
- Or start at LNA. Some Miami lessees will prefer to meet the airplane at its home field. Check the route from your own door.
Is it worth it from Miami? That depends on how many hours you fly and where you’ll start. Send your routes and we’ll tell you straight — including when it doesn’t make sense.
Miami-Dade airports
Miami’s airports, from a lessee’s chair
- Opa-locka Executive (OPF) — a general aviation field, roughly 42 nm from LNA.
- Miami Executive (TMB) — a general aviation field in Kendall, roughly 60 nm from LNA.
- Miami International (MIA) — an airline hub. Excellent at what it’s built for; a light jet there waits in the same airline sequencing as everyone else.
More on general aviation fields versus airline hubs: the South Florida advantage.
Airport information here is general orientation only — confirm current services, hours, fees and access with the field directly and with your pilot before operating there.
What you’re leasing
A 2001 Cessna Citation CJ1, kept like it’s ours
Six passengers in a club cabin, Pro Line 21 avionics, single-pilot certified — one qualified pilot where insurance allows. Inspection-fresh and hangared at LNA, with scheduled maintenance and airworthiness upkeep covered by the lease. Ask and we’ll send the records before you visit. See the CJ1 →
The numbers
What it costs, line by line
- The aircraft: $1,750/hr on a block of at least 25 hours, good for 12 months — or $1,950/hr pay-as-you-go with no commitment. Rates are indicative.
- Fuel: roughly $600/hr, at CAA member contract pricing at CAA Preferred FBOs, where available.
- Your pilot: typically about $1,000–1,500 a day, paid by you directly to the pilot.
Landing, handling, catering and overnight hangar are yours too, as for any Part 91 operator. On the site’s example — a round trip from our base to Atlanta — a dry lease pencils out around $9,500 all-in; chartered, the same trip typically lands near $15,000. Illustrative, not a quote.
Starting from Opa-locka Executive (OPF)? The positioning leg from LNA is part of your trip’s cost — at your cost, under your lease — so put it in your numbers. Run your own route from OPF · or from LNA. Every assumption is editable.
Who it fits
Who dry-leases a jet from Miami
Businesses that would rather not own
Jet access at direct costs — no aircraft on the balance sheet, no crew on payroll. We’ll put the documents in front of your counsel early, not late.
Owners between aircraft
If your aircraft and crew are based at OPF or TMB and the airplane is down or sold, a short bridge lease keeps your calendar intact — your crew moves right over, and the paperwork can be at your counsel’s desk this week.
Frequent charter customers
If you charter 15+ hours a year out of Miami, you know the retail rates and the availability games. Same class of jet, direct costs — positioning leg included in your math.
Owner-pilots building CE-525 time
The CJ1 is single-pilot certified. Fly it yourself where your insurance allows.
What you handle
- ✓Your crew — a pilot you choose, hire, and pay directly (we can share a list of independent pilots, or bring your own)
- ✓Insurance naming you as the operator
- ✓Operational control of every flight, under Part 91
- ✓Fuel and trip costs — landing, handling, catering, overnight hangar
What we don’t do
- ✕Sell flights, seats, or air transportation
- ✕Provide, pick, or schedule your pilots
- ✕Hold a Part 135 certificate — by design
“Aircraft leasing” covers a lot of different things — charter brokers, jet cards, fractional shares, management. This is one specific structure: a Part 91 dry lease. We hand you the keys to a jet we own and maintain; you do the driving.
Need a flown-for-you trip instead? That’s a charter — and we’re deliberately not a charter company. We’re happy to point you to a certificated Part 135 operator.
